Part-time Minister of Music
Reports To: Senior Pastor
Position Overview:
Open Arms CLT is seeking a passionate and skilled Minister of Music to lead and develop our vibrant music ministry. As a non-denominational, Bible-based, multi-ethnic, and multi-generational church, we desire someone who can create a welcoming and inclusive worship experience that reflects our diverse congregation. The ideal candidate will have a heart for worship, a strong musical background, a commitment to discipleship and spiritual growth, and proven leadership skills.
Salary Range: $36,834.00 – $40,444.00 per year
Please note: Salary will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and
demonstrated leadership.

As a growing church, our music ministry is a dynamic and evolving space with exciting opportunities for growth and development. You’ll have the chance to make a real impact as you collaborate with our dedicated team and contribute to shaping the future of our music ministry.
Currently, our ministry consists of a Worship Team, Youth Worship, and a Dance Ensemble. The Minister of Music will collaborate with our Sr. Pastor, Pastor’s executive assistant, Tech Team, Youth Worship musicians, Communications Director, Drummer, Choreographers, and guest artists (as needed).

Qualifications:
- Strong Musical Ability: Proven musical skills and experience in vocal and/or instrumental performance and performance in a church setting. Must be proficient in piano or guitar.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to lead, manage, and motivate musicians and vocalists.
- Spiritual Maturity: A deep and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to discipleship.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with sound equipment, music software, and copyright laws.
- Teaching Ability: Able to effectively teach musical parts to others.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in Planning Center and Multitracks.
- Alignment with Church Values: A strong commitment to the vision, culture, and leadership values of Open Arms CLT.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee Music Ministry: Provide overall leadership and direction for the music ministry at Open Arms CLT.
- Develop Music Ministry: Recruit, train, and equip musicians and vocalists of all ages and skill levels to serve in the music ministry.
- Oversee Worship Team and Ensembles: Direct and develop the worship team, ensembles, and other musical groups within the church.
- Direct Vocals and Instrumentation: Provide guidance and direction to vocalists and instrumentalists, ensuring high-quality musical performance. Manage Scheduling: Schedule vocalists and musicians for each service, ensuring adequate coverage and a balanced representation of musical styles.
- Curate Musical Selections: Make and arrange musical selections that are theologically sound, engaging, and reflective of our diverse congregation.
- Shape the “Open Arms Sound”: Develop a unique musical identity for Open Arms CLT that reflects the diversity of our church and our church culture.
- Supervise Worship Leader: Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the Worship Leader, ensuring alignment with the overall vision of the music ministry.
- Oversee Youth Worship Ministry: Provide leadership and guidance to the Youth Worship ministry team, ensuring alignment with the overall vision of the music ministry.
- Cultivate a Heart of Worship: Foster a culture of worship within the church that encourages spiritual growth and discipleship.
- Manage Music Department: Oversee the music department budget, maintain musical equipment, and ensure copyright compliance.
- Collaborate with Church Leadership: Work closely with the Senior Pastor and other church leaders to integrate music into the overall vision and mission of the church.
- Ability to Lead Worship: Lead worship experiences as needed, in collaboration with the Worship Leader.
- Teach Musical Parts: Confidently and effectively lead rehearsals with the band and also be able to teach vocal parts when necessary.
- Utilize Music Department Software: Demonstrate proficiency in Planning Center and Multitracks software to plan and execute worship sets.
- Weddings, Funerals, & Other Services: These events will be discussed with the Minister of Music to negotiate additional pay at that time.
Time Commitment:
- This position requires an estimated 15-20 hours per week.
- Weeks that require additional research for the music department (finding
- substitute musicians, etc.) may increase weekly hours.
- Weekly worship team rehearsal: 1.5-2 hours per week
- Sunday Schedule:
○ Call time: 8:00am
○ Sound Check: 8:30am-9:20am
○ Service: 9:45am-11:00am
○ Leadership Meeting: 11:15am-11:45am - Monthly Leadership Planning Meeting: 1st Saturday of the month 9:00am-12:00pm (in person)
- Weekly meeting with Sr. Pastor for worship planning
- Ongoing collaboration with Tech & Communications Teams

of our supportive leadership team, working alongside pastors, operations leaders,
and media staff. We are eager to welcome a new leader who is passionate about

Our Church Environment:
Currently, we hold our services in a gym, which allows for flexibility and creativity in
our worship setup. This also means that we are actively seeking a dedicated
rehearsal space to enhance our music ministry.
